Long time no see, I know! (at least for me, it's been a while since I've seen this website). Life has been a bit hectic but hopefully I will make some more time to work on this site in the near future. Either way, it's a long term project so there's no rush.

My sister got her photos developed from her camera, and I think they look pretty cool! The one I'm putting on here doesn't exactly flatter me (my forehead is smaller in real life), but it's still fun to look at.

Alas, it is that time of year. I moved back in to my student housing on August 7th, ahead of the fall semester starting August 24th. For context, I live in a co-op, which is basically a giant house owned by a non-profit to provide affordable housing for students. This means that every semester there are a bunch of new people and I am basically always guaranteed a friend group due to having so many housemates (there are 21 of us here).

Later in the evening after I moved in, there was someone playing guitar on our living room couch. They were playing in the complete dark, so I walked up to them and saw the figure of someone who lived at our house last year. I approached him and said his name, and he responded with, "Uhhhh...I'm <redacted>." Safe to say, it was not who I thought it was. I immediately got embarrassed but introduced myself and asked why he was playing in the dark. He said that he couldn't find the light. Our living room is a little bit weird; it has a light switch, but it's kind of hidden and turns on four lights around the living room, not a central fan light.

Anyway, turns out he is really cool. Right now is the perfect time to make new friends since the school year hasn't started yet so everyone has a lot of free time on their hands. I helped him mount some shelves and we stayed up until 3am talking with another housemate about the most random stuff. This morning I went with him and someone else down to the park at 7:30. There is a giant suspended net that you can climb onto and lie down on, staring up at the sky. We did that and talked for a while before all going on the swings, literally just swinging in silence, seeing how fast we can go. It was the ultimate meditation. After that, we wanted to go to the record store but it was closed, so we went over to a local spot and got smoothies.

Later on, that new friend and I took our bikes down to the music building on campus where we played piano (more like I played for him, but he wants to learn). I think one of my favorite things about him that I've been looking for in a new friend for a while is actually having interests. He literally sends me music to listen to and gives me book recommendations, what more could I ask for??

Obviously I won't have free time like this during the semester, but I'm definitely going to try to maximize the amount of fun I have with people at my house before everything goes to hell. ALSO, I've been doing neetcode like every day, which if you are so blessed as to be ignorant to this, it's basically interview prep practice questions for tech interviews. Yeah, it sucks as bad as it sounds. I've always kind of struggled to come up with my own solutions to problems like those posed in interviews, but I'm already feeling a lot more confident after only having done it for around two weeks (normally, it takes around six months to become cracked).

I decided to build a new computer because my current one is from like 2012 (it's an old Dell office computer with an upgraded GPU) and it couldn't run Silent Hill 2 (priorities, am I right). Ram being $200 for 16gb is actually insane to me. Fuck AI!!! I found an NVIDIA 3070 for like $220 though, let's just hope they didn't use it for data mining!

Also, since I went on leave of absence at my old cashier job (because I moved back to school), I had to find a new job closer to where I live. I got an interview at a local museum and they pay a whopping $20/hour, which is more than I've ever been paid at a job that required "unskilled labor". It's not like I'm going to be the PhD candidate making the exhibits, I'll just be one of those people who walk around silently and makes sure the little kids keep their grubby little hands off of the artifacts. My interview is tomorrow, I am so nervous but I think I have the right skillset for them.

Finally, my main goal this semester is to learn how to raise one eyebrow.
